When the flood wall broke in downtown Davenport in 2019, the Mississippi River poured into Dress for Success, forcing us to evacuate. The structural damage proved to be too great, and our landlord decided to sell the building. We needed to establish a permanent home from which to offer our services so that physical challenges with our location no longer disrupt services for the women who need us.
Owning rather than renting gives us the sense of permanence that we – and the women of our community – need to grow and thrive. Our new location is more easily accessible and includes plenty of free parking as well as direct access to a bus line. This makes it easier for program participants, volunteers, and supporters to visit us, so we can work together to improve the lives of women in the Quad Cities!
