A New Home for Dress for Success

From Disruption & Displacement…

When the flood wall broke in downtown Davenport in 2019, the Mississippi River poured into Dress for Success, ruining most of our clothes and forcing us to evacuate. The structural damage proved to be too great, and our landlord decided to sell the building. We were able to operate temporarily out of a space on Elmore Ave. However, this was our third costly and disruptive move – affecting our services – in just 10 years, and we knew another was on the horizon. We needed to establish a permanent home for our programming so that physical challenges with our location no longer disrupt services for the women who need us.

…to Our New Home!

We decided to take control of our own destiny. Owning rather than renting gives us that control and sense of permanence that we – and the women of our community – need to grow and thrive. The emergency situation created by the flood made our situation an urgent one that could not wait. We found a great place along a bus route at the right price! Our new location, which is right off Brady street, is more easily accessible and includes plenty of free parking as well as direct access to a bus line, making it easier for participants, volunteers, and donors to visit us so we can work together to improve the lives of women in the Quad Cities!
